I almost put in a help ticket when this happened to me, but after researching it a bit I discovered that this was indeed a good thing. Definitive is a more complete version than Platinum. Buy a Platinum edition for less and get upgraded to Definitive. This is the way. r/dyinglight.
The Definitive Edition literally has everything Techland is going to ever release for DL1. The Platinum Edition is supposed to upgrade into the Definitive Edition automatically, but I don't know if Switch supports that, if you want to download updates before playing anything, etc..
